[She takes his hand and stands up, smiling.] Don't look now, but Adam can't take his eyes off you. Freedom agrees with you. [He kisses her cheek, and she laughs.] You have never looked more beautiful. [Tad and Liza are sitting together, watching the action Ryan is creating. Liza chuckles.] Tad: Well, don't you look like the cat that ate the canary? Liza: Why not? Look at Adam. I've never seen him look so antsy. [She grins.] Tad: Well, why shouldn't he? He hates to lose. Especially to a man that slept with his wife. Liza: Not that I need to be reminded [she checks out Ryan] but thanks for reminding me. [She turns to Tad and smiles.] Ryan: Okay, Bill. Bring them in. [He walks over to Liza and hands her a piece of paper.] Tad: What's this, party gift stock certificates? Liza: "Certificate of marriage"? Tad: Oh, Ryan, you shouldn't have. [He bats his eyes.] Ryan: Yeah, well, you know. Liza, you and I were married last week. I'm so sorry that I had to cut the honeymoon so short. [He gives certificates of marriage to Erica and Greenlee, too, then has new people enter the room.] Ryan: These are the ministers that performed the wedding ceremonies. Man: [To Liza] Hello, Mrs. Lavery. [Ryan goes on to show that anyone can fake a marriage, like he thinks Kendall did with Michael Cambias.] [Liza and Ryan look at each other after he goes another round with Adam.] [Liza and Ryan talk alone. Tad and Adam are a few feet away.] Liza: [Smiling] So, was it everything you hoped it would be? Ryan: [Smiling] Oh, come on now. You enjoyed it a little bit. Liza: Mmm, a little bit. It was very entertaining. [They laugh.] I thought you gave up the corporate world. Ryan: Well, I guess I just needed a different perspective. Liza: And you have that now? Ryan: Oh, yeah, I do. So how are you, really? Liza: I'm good. I'm away from Adam and it's good for me. Ryan: [Nods] Yeah. Pushing you out of Chandler wasn't the brightest move. [Tad and Adam turn to look at them, listening.] Which is why I want you back as CEO. I want you on my team, Liza. Liza: Are you serious? Ryan: Yeah, I'm very serious. Think about it. Liza: Okay. Ryan: Okay. Liza: I will. [She smiles.] Okay. [She laughs. They shake hands and she walks away, still smiling.] Tad: Oh, stop it. It's a Hell of a party, I'm glad I crashed it. [At the Pine Valley Inn bar. Liza is at one of the tables. Tad sits behind her on a bar stool.] Tad: So, don't tell me you're honestly considering another lap around the boardroom with Mr. Lavery? Liza: Ryan made me an offer and I'm considering it. Tad: Why? [Liza smiles.] What can he offer you that you don't already get at Fusion? Liza: You really want me to answer that? [She turns to look at him.] Tad: No. [He gets up.] Not particularly, no. Liza: I didn't think so. Tad: [He takes a seat in front of her.] I gotta hand it to you -- jumping back into bed with Ryan would certainly be a good way to stick it to Adam. Liza: Are you worried about Adam? Tad: No, I'm worried about you. I don't think you would come through it unscarred. Liza: Me? Tad: Yeah, you. The last time you got involved with Ryan-- Liza: [She puts up her hand.] Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, wait a minute-- Tad: -- things didn't go well for anybody concerned. Liza: Ryan proposed a business arrangement. That's it. Tad: Oh, be serious. Do you honestly expect me to believe that with your history neither one of you is going to start to blush when you discuss acquisitions and mergers? Liza: Oh, grow up. Tad: I did, and I learned from my mistakes. Liza: Really? Really? Since when? Honestly, because I think you've lost the right to comment on my personal life. Tad: Personal? We're talking personal? I thought we were talking professional. Liza: You know what I mean. Tad: Why are you so mad at me, okay? What did I do? Liza: Ugh. [Simone walks over to their table.] Simone: Can you believe this? Is Ryan for real? Tad: [Looking at Liza] Well, you'd have to ask Liza, she's the expert. Liza: Yes, I do. You know, I'm going to the office, punish myself with self-inflicted paper-cuts. [She gets up.] Simone: Liza, are you okay? Liza: Yeah. Why don't you and Mia join Tad? Simone: [To Tad] Is that okay? [Tad doesn't answer, he simply looks at Liza.] Liza: Yeah, Mia can take my seat, you sit on his lap and make yourself at home. [She gives Tad a look before walking away, leaving him with his mouth open.] Mia: You know, I wouldn't take it personally, Simone. Liza's just upset about Ryan returning and all those bombs he just dropped on us. Tad: Oh, no, she's not. She's all over his bombshells. Mia: You jealous? [Tad scoffs and changes the subject.] |
