Liza: The woman that I saw tearing out of here. Did she forget her whip to go with those cuffs? Tad: Har-dee-har-har, what fun it is to laugh! That was Anna. She was here as a police officer because her husband has assaulted me. Liza: [Worried] David did this? [She kneels down.] Tad: Yes. Liza: Are you all right? Was anybody else hurt? Tad: Not yet, thank God. Liza: What do you mean, "not yet"? Where is he? Tad: I don't know. He threatened Jamie and took off. Liza: Anna came looking for David? Tad: Yeah. She's just -- I don't know where she is now. She sent a cop to look after Jamie. I just spoke with him. He seems fine. Liza: Jamie should be with you. Tad: Thanks for the news flash. I知 working on it. I certainly don't intend to let David get away with something like this. Liza: [Stands up and sits on the desk.] Well, it's good to hear you still have it. See, that's actually why I came over. [She puts her foot on the chair.] To communicate some things to you. Tad: Wait -- you were worried about me? Liza: No, I was worried that you were convinced that I was still carrying a little torch for you and wanted to let you know that I知 not, despite what your ego is telling you. Tad: You really think now is a good time to deal with this? Liza: Why? You going somewhere? [Doorbell rings.] Tad: Could you do me a little favor? I知 a little tied up. Just answer the door. Liza: Sure. Tad: Thank you. [Liza opens the door.] Officer: Evening. Chief sent me over to unlock Tad Martin. Tad: Yeah, that's me! The guy in the chair. Thank you. Liza: Actually, I was wondering if you would let me unlock him. Maybe you could just leave the key with me. I could return the key in the morning. It's just that I致e been out of town, and this is my first night back. Officer: Oh, I got you. I understand. My wife -- she travels a lot, also. Enjoy. [He hands Liza the key and leaves. Liza closes the door.] Tad: Did he just say "Enjoy"? Liza: Oh, yes. Tad: Come on, just -- don't stand there. Just unlock these things. They're really uncomfortable. [Liza smiles.] Tad: What, you want me to beg? Liza: Beg? You know, I don't ever really think I致e ever seen you beg. Tad: I -- what the hell is going on? First Anna, now you. I mean, if this is the kind of help I get from my friends, I知 really in serious trouble. Liza: Really? You consider me a friend? Because there was a little while there that you actually thought there might be more to it on my part. Tad: I -- I cannot believe you're doing this. All right, all right, I apologize, okay? I知 sorry. I never meant to imply that you ever thought of me as anything other than a dear friend who just happens to know you biblically. Now could you please unlock the damn cuffs? Liza: You know, I never really thought I would ever say this [she sits on the desk again and puts her foot on the chair] but I think that David Hayward did the women of Pine Valley a huge favor because I think you need a time-out. I think you need to reassess your priorities. Tad: You're kidding. Liza: No, I知 not kidding. I actually think this is the best thing that's ever happened to you. I think on a hot and steamy night that you should be right here instead of trying to weasel your way into an unsuspecting woman's bed. Tad: Look in my eye. Liza, this isn't funny, okay? Not a joke. I知 not laughing. Liza: Mm-hmm. Tad: Unlock the cuffs. Liza: You know, I値l let Jamie unlock the cuffs in the morning. Have a nice night. [She stands and throws the key on the desk. She picks up her purse, smiles at Tad, and leaves.] Tad: Liza. Liza, please, come on, okay? I知 sorry. No, really, I am. I made a mistake, okay? Please? Liza! I have to go to the bathroom! |
