Tad stops her, highly amused.] Tad: Nice try, princess. You're not going anywhere till you tell me why you were hiding in my house, and the minute I walk back in again, you -- you try to take off. Liza: No, I wasn't hiding. I -- I was... Tad: [He looks at her expectantly.] What? Liza: Well, because I... Tad: Because? Liza: Didn't really have... Tad: Have? Liza: Well... Tad: Huh? Liza: This is why. [She gives Tad a passionate kiss.] Tad: Whoa. That was a hell of an explanation. It just doesn't answer my question. Liza: Well, this is all your fault! Tad: Oh, I got to hear this. Liza: No, come on. You're the one who said you needed a hiatus, that you needed a break from all these women, and I don't care. I mean, I wanted to see you because I missed you. So I really needed to see you. [She smiles.] Tad: So you really needed to see me so bad that you -- you broke into my home, and then you hid? And then as soon as soon as I come back and my back was turned, you tried to sneak back out again. I mean, why? Liza: Well, I was embarrassed. Tad: That's your answer? Liza: No, really, I thought at first that this was something, whoa, spontaneous, and that I would surprise you. And then when I got here I sort of felt like a fool, so I made a run for it. [Tad looks at her.] What? Tad: I thought we had an agreement, you know, that I was sort of off-limits? You know, out of bounds? Liza: [Pouting] Well, just because you need to take a break doesn't mean that I agree. Tad: Yes, we did. We agreed, remember? Liza: No, we didn't agree -- look, I just said that because I wanted to make you happy. You don't believe me? Tad: I have to. There's absolutely nothing in my house that you could possibly want except me. [Liza smiles and they move closer. Tad lowers his voice.] But since I'm still cooling my jets [he kisses her on the cheek] I'm going to have to let you off with a warning. Take the purse, take the purse. [Liza takes it. Tad opens the door for her.] In light of our very rewarding and very loving history, don't do it again because I'd really hate to get the cops involved. Liza: Sure you don't want to frisk me? [She smiles flirtatiously.] Tad: Go. Liza: [She heads out] Oh -- [She turns back to him and hands him the key.] Tad: [Smiling] Yeah, there is that. [Tad watches Liza leave.] |
