Hit: All My Children's good Knight

Even after too much time spent simmering on the back burner, Michael E. Knight's Tad can still spice up All My Children with some much-needed humor.

When Tad dreamed of Liza cooing in his ear----"You rock my world," she purred----he replied with a wily smirk, "I don't want to brag, but it helps when you're familiar with the geography." Knight's roguish countenance made it clear that Tad absolutely did want to brag. He doesn't want to grow up.

And he'll never grow out of the sins of his youth, as Marian's sudden appearance in his bed affirmed. With impeccable timing and delivery. Tad begged to be awakened from an eye-popping pizza-induced nightmare, even as Jennifer Bassey delighted in returning Marian to her bawdy roots while chasing the former Glamorama shampoo boy around the room.

"Tad the Cad" followed up that incident with consecutive visits from the Fusion gals, all of whom hired Tad to track down the same "Dream man." From his girlish shriek (and clutching his bathrobe) at the sight of Mia to his imperious delivery of, "Do you honestly expect me to believe you're not here to seduce me?" to his snidely hilarious condescension as the parrots each other, Knight polished lines like "flecks of gold in his hair" into comedy gems that buoyed the entire episode.

It's a golden rule: When in doubt, AMC should turn the day over to Knight.
